Classroom Assistant - KS1 SEND

Temporary

(This is a term by term position, specifically linked to the SEND context within the cohort. The role will conclude should the SEND context within the cohort change)

 

33.5 hours per week, term time only (190 days)

Band 5  £24,790 (whole time)

(Actual salary £18,895-£19,322)

 

We are looking to appoint for September 2025, a committed and highly effective classroom assistant who will contribute to meeting the needs of all pupils in all aspects of the Primary Curriculum and the wider life of the school. The post, in the first instance, is for Year 1.  The successful applicant will become part of a forward thinking stand out school which became part of the Extol Trust on 1st July 2013.  

 

The successful candidate should have:

  • the ability to work with groups and individual pupils under the guidance of a teacher;
  • the ability to inspire, engage and motivate children to learn;
  • Experience of working with children in Early Years or KS1;
  • A good knowledge, and understanding, of Development Matters and the National Curriculum for KS1;
  • Proven experience of working with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) demonstrating a clear understanding of a range of needs and effective strategies to support inclusive learning;
  • A good knowledge, and understanding, of intervention;
  • High expectations and experience of working as part of a team;
  • Excellent communication skills with a positive attitude, flexibility and adaptability.

Midday Supervisory Assistant

Fixed Term - 1 year contract

 

10 hours per week, term time only (190 days)

Band 3  £24,027 (whole time)

(Actual salary £5,465-£5,590)

 

We are looking to appoint for September 2025, a caring, reliable and proactive Midday Supervisory Assistant to join our dedicated team. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the welfare, safety and enjoyment of our pupils during the lunchtime period. This includes supervising pupils in the dining hall, playground, and during indoor activities, as well as encouraging positive behaviour and social interaction. This is a valuable opportunity to contribute to the wider life of a forward-thinking, stand-out school that became part of the Extol Trust on 1st July 2013.  

 

The successful candidate should have:

  • the ability to supervise activities and maintain the health, safety, welfare, good conduct and safeguarding of pupils during the break times, having regard to special or additional needs;
  • high expectations of behaviour and the confidence to encourage pupils to follow and adhere to school behavioural codes and expectations;
  • experience of working within a school environment;
  • the ability to assist with first aid and welfare issues, including caring for unwell pupils as required;
  • the capability to complete appropriate documentation in a timely and accurate manner;
  • willingness to undertake duties in both indoor and outdoor environments;
  • experience or confidence in supervising activities during the midday break, including setting up and putting away equipment;
  • a proactive approach to cleaning up spillages of food or liquids during meal service;
  • an understanding of how to report incidents in line with school policies;
  • flexibility to follow staff direction and work within laid down team rotas;
  • the capacity to share relevant information with other school staff as necessary;
  • a strong committment to promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people;
  • knowledge of school procedures related to lunchtime supervision and the midday meals service.
