Free School Meals

Help obtain government funding for our school!

Did you know the government gives additional funding to schools for those children entitled to free school meals?

School uses this money to employ additional staff and resources that help improve the quality of education for all its pupils.

Your child may be able to get free school meals if you receive any of the following:

  • Income Support
  • income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • the guaranteed element of Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
  • Working Tax Credit run-on - paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
  • Universal Credit - if you apply on or after 1 April 2018 your household income must be less than £7,400 a year (after tax and not including any benefits you get)

To find out whether your child qualifies for free school meals, and thereby supporting our school with additional funding also, please click on the link below.

If you are unsure how to apply for Free School Meals or require any advice, please contact Hartlepool Borough Council's Free School Meals Team on 01429 284188 or email benefits@hartlepool.gov.uk

If your child is eligible for free school meals, they'll also qualify for the Holiday Activity and Food Programme

Food vouchers may also be available through the Household Support Fund. Find out more by contacting Hartlepool Borough Council.

If you do not qualify for most benefits (also known as having 'no recourse to public funds'), your child may still be eligible for free school meals.  Contact Hartlepool Borough Council for further information.
