EGA's Design & Technology Intent

We want every child to have every opportunity to experience success in each DT learning episode.

At Eldon Grove Academy we provide children with a platform that helps prepare them to deal with an ever-changing technological world, encouraging them to become creative and resourceful problem solvers, working both independently and as members of a team through DT.

All children will be given the opportunity to develop their Design & Technology skills and be able to relate this to the role of inventors, designers and other careers in the wider world. These identified skills will be transferrable to use across the curriculum and in their wider community.

Through the DT curriculum our children will be given the opportunity to develop their own reflective skills to problem solve, evaluate and understand their own ideas, concepts and the evolving world around them.

Design and Technology involves applying knowledge and skills when designing and making products. The activities undertaken will enable our children to consider the needs of individuals and society within a caring community. Undertaking design and technology activities in school will give our children opportunities to use a range of materials and processes and to work independently or as part of a team. We would hope that the activities undertaken here in Eldon Grove Academy will also reflect the children's local environment and support them in the wider world.
