EGA's Geography Intent
We want every child to have every opportunity to experience success in each Geography learning episode.
In EGA, through our curriculum, our ultimate aim is to enable our pupils to be 'Geographers'.
We want them to wonder why, to be curious and fascinated by their world around them and how varied it is. We want them to want to know more about the people that live across the world, to be intrigued by differences in culture. We want them to spot features of their local environment and know why they are there and what their role is. We will give them time to construct an emotional and sensory response to local and global places. We want them to be excited about changing landforms and keen to explain how they are created and how, just as the world keeps spinning, the world keeps changing too.
We will do this by promoting Geography as a living and breathing subject which is underpinned by dynamic and relevant knowledge and skills. Our children will be guided to become global citizens who are responsible for the future of their world around them.
Through opportunities such as fieldwork, trips and virtual tours, our children will be given opportunities to develop skills that are progressive but transferable to the wider curriculum and beyond.

Eldon Grove Academy provides a broad and balanced curriculum for all children. The National Curriculum and the “Key Performance Indicators” we have developed as a staff are our starting points for planning that meets the specific needs of individuals and groups of children.
