An afternoon that started with a lot of promise turned into frustration with 3 wins and 3 losses at the Seaton Sports Domes. Captain Finlay led the team well in game one against Grange Primary with a 6-0 win to open the tournament. Game two was a tough 2-0 loss to a very good Barnard Grove School team with goalkeepers Oliver and Nathan playing well. Game three could have went either way but Rift House School grabbed the winner from a corner 30 seconds from full time. Two victories followed against Lynnfield School and Elwick School with score lines of 5-0 and 4-0. Jack and Edward scored a total of 5 goals. The final fixture of the day was against West View School who comprehensively won by a score line of 3-0 due to great teamwork. Well done to the boys for trying their best!

Finlay and Tom also achieved a top 10 finish doing an excellent job to make it through to the next round. Year 6 girls Cassia and Saffron also ran an excellent race to qualify for the town final. Eldon Grove Academy managed a 1st and 2nd place finish in the Year 6 boys race with Jack and Finlay running almost the perfect race finishing well ahead of 3rd place to qualify for the next round. The girls Tag Rugby team competed at the cluster Tag Rugby tournament at High Tunstall College of Science and considering it was some of the girls first time playing competitive Tag Rugby, the whole team worked really hard. A 10 – 1 victory over Hart was the highlight of the tournament with Ruby the standout performer scoring 4 tries. 3 narrow defeats followed against Rift House, West Park and Elwick. Unfortunately, the girls just missed out on a semi final place but showed fantastic team spirit. Well done girls!
The mixed Tag Rugby team put in a fantastic performance to make it all the way to the final to ensure qualification for the town finals. Victories against Elwick, Throston and Hart set up a semi final against a very strong West Park team. Eldon Grove Academy edged the semi final 3-2 with Tom scoring two tries with Bobby scoring the other. Against a very strong Rift House team in the final, Eldon Grove Academy were beaten 4-2 but displayed some great Tag Rugby skills and teamwork throughout to ensure a place in the town finals.
